about
London based grungers Fräulein are returning with ‘Drag Behind’, their first new music of the year. Another blisteringly raw track, ‘Drag Behind’ is built around an infectiously simple guitar riff which builds into their biggest chorus yet.
Singer Joni Samuels explains: “This is a song about feeling out-of-place in your surroundings, comparing yourself to people and feeling kind of bitter about it. Allowing those feelings to impact you negatively, even though you try to ignore them. You want to reach your potential and be yourself, but your constant comparisons drag you down.”
Drummer Karsten van der Tol expands: “This is one of the first songs we ever played together, putting the bones together almost 3 years ago. Since then, it’s been baptized in fire through gigs and rehearsals, constantly being refined along the way. Endlessly energetic, this song is so much fun to play!”
lyrics
My whole life,
I was born to drag behind.
The storm within,
The marks all on my skin.
All of my favourite things,
God knows I wanna sin.
I can’t look at you.
Now that you’re gone and you’ve left your stench behind.
I’m not care-free and elastic like you.
I sit here tight as a rubber band, I do.
These black-brown eyes give nothing away,
My heart palpitates, I’m not here to stay.
Symbols of her everywhere I go.
Makes me feel down, I am deep below.
I can hear her voice in my ear,
Raven-haired and always near.
“Don’t give this to any girl but me”
It used to be special, it used to be me.
Clutching at the nearest hand,
But still out of place, I can’t understand.
Wanted this E.P from the first time I heard Saturn on the Steve Lamaq show on his BBC 6 Music recommends show but for some reason I've only just got round to purchasing it . But anyhoo fantastic E.P gingercol
